Student Activities

The student fee includes the three student special events (“Meet and Greet,” Presentation of Mexico’s Geological Map, and Education Round Table), as well as the Icebreaker, all coff ee breaks, Walk and Talk Lunch at the Exhibition, and the Symposium.

Taking into account the vital importance of students, as representing the future generations of geocientists to come, we offer a special fee to facilitate their participation. In addition, we present the following events to stimulate their interests in geosciences.

“Meet and Greet”

Date: Sunday, October 16
Time: 18:30- 19:00 hrs
Location: Tajín 4 Exhibition Hall

This is a great chance for high GPA students to interact with professionals and create for themselves a professional network. Professionals and students will meet with their pre-assigned groups at the entrance of the Exhibition Hall in Tajín 4. It is here that they will make acquaintance and introduce themselves to each other. Once the Exhibition is on professionals are strongly encouraged to accompany students to stroll through the exhibition and introduce them to colleagues. An approximate period of 15 to 20 minutes will be set aside for just this purpose. If by any chance they run into one another once again during the Convention, they shall take the opportunity to discuss some of the impressions they have about the experience they are sharing at the event.

Presentation of the most recent version of Mexico’s geological map

Date: Sunday, October 16
Time: 11:00- 13:30 hrs
Location: Olmeca 1
Limit: 40 persons

A group of experts from the Mexican Geological Service have updated Mexico’s geological map. A special presentation of this map will be given by Mr. Francisco Cendejas-Cruz , Regional Coordinator of the Mexican Geological Service.
