This event is dedicated to the memory of late Dr. Ralph W. Imlay, renowned paleontologist, stratigrapher, and acclaimed authority on the Jurassic of North America. In the 1940s, Dr. Imlay came to Mexico invited by Manuel Rodriguez- Aguilar, Chief of the Exploration Department at Pemex, to share his knowledge and conduct field work to get a better understanding of the Jurassic of the Gulf of Mexico. In that survey, Dr. Imlay was guided by four Pemex eminent geologists, who discussed with him the petroleum relevance of the Jurassic stratigraphy and paleogeography of Mexico: Edmundo Cepeda de la Garza, Manuel Alvarez Jr., Teodoro Diaz, and Guillermo P. Salas. To pay homage to the memory of these four Mexican pioneers in petroleum geology and as a tribute to this international economic-geology collaboration, the conference ballroom names are dedicated to these men. Name badge required for entry; tickets for an optional lunch may be purchased on site.
